This quilt circa 1935, tiny stitches of a flower garden pattern, lovingly made for a baby boy. He was breech and my grandmother almost died. Then whooping cough and he almost died. And now it seems unbelievable there are some who are against science and what it has given to reduce human suffering.

Gift from my late grandmother. What would she be thinking...

This is a photo of the cemetery at George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond, Missouri. I took my son there when he was 6. He did the math. He asked me what so many babies and children had died... I then explained what life was like before vaccines....
