Thinking a lot lately about the simple fact that college allows people to spend about 15 weeks immersed in a disciplinary conversation with an expert in that field. And what a special thing that is.

The FBI infiltrated an encrypted chat of immigration court watchers in New York. Then it issued intelligence calling them violent extremists—terrorists.

As I told @theguardian.com, this targeting of people who show up for immigrants is straight COINTELPRO:

Teaching in TX has been a little exhausting, politically speaking. But today a student told me they appreciated me and was the best professor they’ve had at SHSU. So there’s that, I suppose. 🥲 #academicchatter

Talking about atavism and physical stigmata in labeling criminals in my criminology class next week. What better way to bring my ancestors into the mix as an example than my great-great grandfather’s prison intake form?!

Hi, I worked at USAID. 👋

Airdrops are universally acknowledged as probably the worst and least efficient way to get aid to people. You airdrop when you a) want to want to so something but can’t, or b) you don’t want to do anything but want to look like you are.

Note this well.
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
