I think we were taken by surprise by how great it was! It sounded a bit meh when they tried to big up the excitement but it was genuinely exciting and chaotic

The Mariella Mystery books by Kate Pankhurst are wonderful for that age. Great fun, not too challenging. A school girl detective in good fairly straightforward chapter books for 6-9yr olds.

Yes! My girls told me that when they get together with their mates they play monopoly and twister. Kids are much more ‘normal’ and old fashioned than the media makes out.
