Lashunta Inspirational Memory - 3 years ago Artist Dominik Zdenkovic This could be the Great Orrery within the Natural Philosophy University in Qabarat, perhaps the premier school for the study of science on the continent of Asana, rivalling even what the Elves can offer in Sovyrian. Not only is it built to show the Lashunta's latest understanding of cosmology and the solar system, but it's an engineering marvel in its own right. The question of how much technology (and what, specifically) to introduce into a fantasy world is an ongoing question for me, and I imagine for other worldbuilders as well. We tend to have a theme we wish to capture, and what kind of tech (and weapons!) plays a major role in that. For me personally, I've spent much of my worldbuilding and gaming career as part of the Anti-Firearm Party. And yet there are cool things, like this orrery that I'd like to have. From what I've researched historically, mechanical constructs of the solar system became a fad starting in the Sixteenth Century, long after gunpowder was invented and had started revolutionizing warfare. On a related note, I've already introduced telescope-capable optics, which on our real-life wold wasn't achieved until the Seventeenth Century. I'm also a big fan of healers having a basic understanding of sepsis and infection, unlike Medieval & Renaissance Europe, and, oh yeah, bleeding a patient actually weakens them! So the problem presents itself as how does one include certain aspects of science and technology without sparking an industrial revolution? What factors within a society inhibit proliferation, effectively holding back progress? What tensions do those inhibitors create within the society, whose champions clash with zealous inventors, eager to gain fame, make it rich, or even improve their people's lot? #pathfinder #pathfinder2e #lashunta #castrovel #rpg #ttrpg #worldbuilding #pathfinderrpg

Something sorrows in a lumberyard, moreso than any fallen tree else, even than a milktree. A baleful glade opens through the leafwhelve, and deathliness overwafts after something so great, the earth’s own child, yields life. The stump’s girth, wontfully wide as a streetyard now now rose so high as a hallroof, and through the wreck and waste left from boughs, limbs, and woodchips overstrewing the stead’s gruesomeness. I ken many folk who withhold coming anywhere near or who misdeem woodcutters as foul. Some outer settlesteads rather hire outlaws to cut wood instead of doing it themselves. We saw the stump, eyesomely of a redbud, whose whole slab widened maybe five shota-lengths jutting broken from the earth. It had been sawn flat halfway, matched against the other side’s notch cutting through burl and rotten wood: proof of this tree’s illness and why it was chosen. From the stump and along the fallpath stretched the beam like a fallen, butchered god. Its upper side was mostly hewn and already lumbered off. Under its lower half, a rough pit was already dug by the stump. There sat the pit saw, which bedreaded plight from marsh-adders and whatever things else might increep. (Indeed, many farmers beread old sawpits as the best stead to hunt baletoad polliwogs.) We also met a wheelteam with a shieldhead hitched, who lifted a cut beamslab for draft to the nearest watermill. The Korasha teamsters asked our idleness, and then shared any deadfall and boughs were already taken, since they are harvested first. Yet they bade us toward the fallen beam’s end where we might offhew chunks from the lesser boughs outstaying, but must cut our own wood. We thankfully blessed, and then trundled our barrows, with our Shotalashu skipping lazily and Aeosel gleefully riding on the bed, toward the fallen top.

Lashunta Word of the Week Tavaulzei (/ta.vɔlːze:i./; spiritual): afterbliss; afterglow Formation: ~Tavaul~ (spir): bliss; ecstasy + ~Zei~: postpositional form of ~Zi~: after; occurring in temporal posterity From a worldbuilding perspective, Lashunta with their highly psychic natures, spend a fair amount of time in each other’s heads, especially during intimacy. The capacity for synergistic emotion is considerable, in which they pretty much trip out on shared feelings. It really becomes ecstasy in the literal, out-of-body sense. This word factors into the opening scene of today’s _A Castrovel Adventure: Part 6, Chapter 13_, which was inspired by Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Afterglow.’
