I guess I need to put something here.

Maybe all my excess existential dread?
I honestly think it would take under 30 seconds *per year* of being online to know who to vote for every two years.

Honest question, IS IT impeachable?

Like, i agree it SHOULD be, but can't congress members do... pretty much the exact same thing?

Especially given how ham they went on Arthur.

I will say, that the intro training I got on sex/gender/identity as a PAX Enforcer (more than a decade ago) was one of the BEST clearest I've ever seen.

I do this, except for the names of dogs of people I often meet.

I know over a dozen dog names and ZERO human names.

I would honestly love a poll to ask people how many times the president has been indicted and convicted of various counts, as I feel like... Very few could answer that correctly.

It is a very 2008 take on social media.

Back when Facebook was powered only by "Likes".

Conservatives are the ones living in a "Confirmation Bias Fueled Bubble".

Liberals are caught in a "Damage Report" daily cycle of reading the literal news and being fueled by impotent rage.

The problem, is that Old "Institutional Democrats" who likely are incapable of imagining another path other than blind faith "that the institutions will hold" are the leaders of the opposition party.

Time for them to step aside and let people who are capable of rising to the moment lead.

I was thinking of Joesph Smith.

Please find an example of a cult of personality where that worked.

I can think of... one, but it is certainly not common, and honestly, the man is a bit one of a kind in the way he has managed to hole up in American's psyche.

Exactly.

Reasons all is not lost:
* Cults of personality with a geriatric leader are NOT permanent things
* For all you GenXers, remember, there is always a moment in He-Man where it looks like Skeletor's plan is going perfectly, but his greed, avarice and incompetent motley crew biff things up.

"You going to have it 'Mike's Way'?"

and reflexivity answering "yes" rather than asking what that entails would have seem to be higher stakes.

Glad to see we're at "Shrugging at Americans Starving" levels of general policy discussion.

This is a very good and fine information environment we got going on here.

The book "A City on Mars: Can we settle space and have we really thought this through?" does a great job deflating the entire idea with thoughtful science.

The infrastructure to live isn't the hard part.

Open basic questions around biology and ethics (esp around birthing) are unexplored / unsolved

I agree it all seems to defy basic logic.

But so does a bunch of humans inventing an apex predator made up of greedy legal entities that wants them to all die in the street.

It is all Evil Calvinball, all the way down.
