A political philosopher on this platform posted a screenshot of a passage from A Theory of Justice by John Rawls. It think that's a good idea, and I'm going to start a pinned thread with quotes from the book.
There needs to be Nuremberg-style trials of the administration officials responsible for murdering people in boats in the Caribbean. This is being done in our name. Governments always commit atrocities, but these are out in the open, with not even a veneer of due process or declaration of war.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

I've had my Chevy Bolt EV for a few months now, and I've never used a commercial DC fast-charging station or even a level 2 charger. My driving is limited to one county, so I just plug it in on my slow household current during overnight off-peak hours, at an estimated 2.2 cents per kWh.

I'm not a Marxist. But if he won't sing near me, I'll at least reread a few chapters of Das Kapital. If he promises to shut up altogether, I will have some kind words to say about Stalin.

I agree in total with the progressive Democrats here who state that the deal is awful, and will result in the collapse of the health care safety net.

I don't necessarily agree with what seems to be the dominant view of how it will play out among voters.

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.

Really bummed whenever I see a writer I admire taking a swipe at Kentucky and calling us dumb, esp when I know how similar shit-talking about where they're from would go over. How about just...don't? Signed, Yeah, We Have Lots Of Problems But Proud To Be From Here

If we don't test for COVID, then there's no COVID! If there's no flights, then there's no late flights! Brilliant!
If you just cancel flights, then they're actually not late! Brilliant stuff from Sean Duffy here

Funny cartoon. But this is precisely what the United States Supreme Court has presently decided is sufficient reasonable suspicion to legally stop and detain human beings.

That court is now fetid trash. So is our republic as a result.

Thank god he was wearing the vest.
Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."

Hard, fast rule from a veteran police reporter: Excepting anyone engaged in infiltrating a criminal conspiracy in an undercover capacity, any law officer who hides his identity from the public is a shitheel is doing vile shit and is, in fact, actively destroying the credibility of law enforcement.
This really hasn’t gotten enough attention this week.

Something like those caravans of refugees that would begin deep in Central America and then crawl along for weeks toward our southern border as Fox News spits out fearful jeremiads. Except this will be a stream of BMWs and Benzes on car carriers on I-95 to Florida. And who gives a listless fuck.
