If talking about Goodreads, there's such a wide variation in how people interpret the star ratings. Taken most literally, three stars is 'I liked it' and two stars is 'It was ok' and although I rate more generously, I'm not a hyperbolic speaker and those words describe my reactions most of the time.

Here’s what I said to my kid’s teacher who I can’t stand:
“And don’t be thinking you can catch Covid twice a year between now and retirement and think that’s going to work out for you.”

Interesting and infuriating. Some gynos have no business being gynos.
I hope you find some relief soon. (My gyno also refuses a hysterectomy but did not really explain why other than “risk isn’t worth it”.)

As a mother whose kid is Autistic, ADHD, trans and also has POTS and MEcfs I’ve got a finely tuned radar for when mums are blamed for their children’s health outcomes.
The article makes a nod towards “we don’t want to blame women but…”
But that’s exactly what this is.

Here’s the article at Diabetes Australia.
The new article at the ABC talks to a man from Diabetes Australia.
Does he mention Covid? No.
It’s “lifestyle choices” as euphemism for poor diet and lack of exercise.

An update on COVID-19 and diabetes | Diabetes Australia

That's an interesting proposition. I've always just assumed that capitalism was built by malignant narcissists, and so best rewards that sort of person. But maybe it's more the case that their great advantage is adaptation for personal benefit, and would clamber to the top of almost any system.

There’s an Australian documentary film about the family of a woman with HSAM and it’s clearly a real burden for her. (Due to trauma)
In the end, once ppl start wishing we were fundamentally different, we start wishing for a kind of death. It’s adaptive to want to remain the self.

But, at least they're really obvious about it. About not being my people. This moment I notice this, I back away.
