It was a pleasure to share my SciComm experience as part of @igemcommunity.bsky.social and @esci.eu at the Giant Jamboree last month.

Already looking forward to next year.
Our colleague @larissascicomm.bsky.social  joined the iGEM Giant Jamboree by @igemhq.bsky.social sharing insights on storytelling in science, mental health in SciComm, and careers beyond the lab.
She brought ESCI’s perspective on human-centred science communication to students from around the world.

Closing speech by President von der Leyen at the ‘Choose Europe for Science' event at La Sorbonne
That is why I am here today, to say that Europe will always choose science. And Europe will always make the case for the world's scientists to Choose Europe. Scientific endeavour runs deep through European history – from Pythagoras and Aristotle in Ancient Greece to Galileo and Copernicus in the Renaissance period or to Koch or Pasteur in latter centuries.

it genuinely sucks that basically nothing on the internet works well anymore. search? barely works. social media? filled with garbage engagement-bait designed to game the algorithm. news websites? pages that refresh at random or so covered in video ads that it’s impossible to read stories

I love working with interns and showing them how amazing and versatile science communication is. It is incredible what these pupils can create in just 2 weeks at @esci.bsky.social. Screenwriting, filming, and editing their own short film is a great achievement.
In Germany, pupils have to do short internships as part of their schooling. At ESCI, we offer them insight into careers in the field of #ScienceCommunication. Our interns perform an easy and safe science experiment using household items, film it and explain the science behind it in a short video.
