Ending #ArtAdventCalendar with one of my favourite paintings, the largest flower painting I’ve made so far. Thanks everybody for making this event so uplifting and inspiring!

Hibiscus, oil on canvas, 55x38 cm, 2022.
On a dark green background with a few small streaks of orange and red, there’s a large hibiscus flower on the right and some foliage to the left. The flower is multicoloured with many shades of pink, orange, yellow and red.

For day 23 of #ArtAdventCalendar I offer you a fly agaric mushroom. A symbol of good luck here in Austria, mainly for the New Year, but it definitely has a general winter holiday vibe too.

For day 21 of #ArtAdventCalendar, I want to share the very first oil painting of a flower I ever made, around this time of year in 2020. I knew then and there that it would be the first of many many flower paintings. Also, what a wonderful way to find joy in tough times.

One of my favourite trees in one of my favourite parks

After a week of mostly grey skies, I think it’s a good time to show you this little painting I made on a Greek island. Done mostly on location, just added the finishing touches at home.

One of my first oil paintings and looking at it makes me want to paint more flowers again.

A little poppy to combat the winter blues. The title might suggest otherwise, but to me flowers are always cheerful.

What could be a better first post here than sharing the painting I am proudest of? It was made during a very emotional weekend in 2020 and it felt very empowering to put all my feelings onto the canvas. I hope it resonates with some of you.
