KEEPER is kind of like a mash-up between Travis Stevens' A WOUNDED FAWN and the Hannah-John Kamen creature feature UNWELCOME, which I mean in a positive way. If you're into slow-but-spooky folk horror shot with Oz Perkins impeccable sense of style, make sure to check it out on the big screen

Found a bootleg copy of the 1988 TV movie I SAW WHAT YOU DID. It's frankly better than some theatrical releases I've seen lately and makes me wish even more that Vinegar Syndrome's TELEVISED TERRORS boxset had sold well enough to warrant a second volume

Had a lovely afternoon speaking to the fine folks of the West Shore Rotary Club about making a living as a podcaster in 2025

Found some vintage copies of Fate Magazine while cruising Brown & Dickson the other day. The temptation was strong

Did Paul witness a ghost in my apartment? Is Garth Brooks a serial killing vampire? Will people ever listen when we tell them to stay out of the woods? The answer to at least one of these questions is yes - find out which on the latest show, where we explore haunted British Columbia

It's been a good lineup this last few days

A listener sent me a copy of Dee Snider's STRANGELAND, which has been on my watch list for a hundred years but hasn't been rentable in Canada. Stoked to dive into this one!

This week on Ghost Story Guys, in keeping with our Wet Hot Canadian Summer, we throw back to July 2023 to look at the hauntings of Toronto, Ontario, but with an all-new intro, outro, and some bonus stories thrown in for good measure!

My antipathy towards crowds was reinforced today as I made my way home through Northwestern Deuce Days

The Times Colonist finally got around to reporting on the local asphalt plant's overpowering chemical smell causing problems throughout the city. True to Victoria form, the paper absolves the plant of responsibility in one paragraph, then corrects itself with a quote from the owner in the next

Sure, The Ghost Story Guys isn't the most popular paranormal storytelling show out there, but I can guarantee you it's the only one where you'll get conversations about the Narcisse Snake Dens AND jabs at Jared Leto

Found this one in the archives: from just before a screening of Steve McQueen's "Hunger" in 2008. This was either in Dublin or Belfast, but I can't remember which

Pretty sure I downloaded the wrong Snow White movie

Managed to get up early (for me) and grab coffee on the patio while the streets were empty and the only sound was birdsong

On this dive into the mailbag we come back with a fair number of actual ghost stories! To keep things balanced, we also talk about wrestling, jazz, and Literary Review’s Bad Sex in Fiction Award

Our musical guests are Canadian folk punk legends the Dreadnaughts with "Polka Pit"

Tonight's giallo double feature was CORPSE MANIA/MURDEROCK. Unsurprisingly, the one not about necrophilia was a more pleasant watch, even if it's music was almost as upsetting. Also fun that if you've ever seen a giallo, or really any movie, you'll catch MURDEROCK telegraphing the killer IMMEDIATELY

On the new story show, we explore tales of strangeness from the place I've called home these last 18 years, Vancouver Island! Paul is also is forced to learn more about Skibidi Toilet than he ever thought possible. Because science

This week, we celebrate 2yrs of our listener mail show with a military base ghost story, the litmus test for evil, and Katy Perry's "Roar" (sort of). We also manage to spend roughly an hour talking about radio. Why? Neither of us remember

Landmark's Monday Mystery Movie turned out to be BRING HER BACK. Holy shit. The audience was divided on the way out, but I have no problem saying this is the best horror movie I've seen so far this year. A physically and emotionally brutal exploration of the lengths we'll go to spare ourselves pain

Time for a little actual Canadian content on Canada's best ghost story podcast! This time around, we explore stories of high strangeness from Ontario, with enough digressions (Paul the Psychic Octopus, The Bald King of the North) to make sure we don't stay focused for too long

The final screening of this year's Shock Stock was POPEYE THE SLAYER MAN. The trailers weren't encouraging, but damned if it, like SCREAMBOAT, didn't turn out to be a lot of fun. There's a lot to be said for a movie that knows exactly what it's going for and leans in

The screening opened with a pair of horror shorts - Brandon Vallee Ross' PHROG (shot here in London) and Michael Cooke's CURIOSITY from the UK. Both effective for different reasons, though Cooke's take on a Dark Web worst-case scenario is probably the one I'll think about a little more often
