Perhaps Newsom should have spent less time chumming around with authoritarian buffoons on his podcast and more time preparing and strategizing for the entirely predicable thing that is happening in his state right now.

Exactly this. Go to TikTok. Look at the lives. It’s 400 people OUTSIDE LA, standing outside an ICE facility and they are making the ruling class shake. This is a sign of weakness on the part of the ruler: they are afraid and they can be stopped.
