They literally mumble "but the Spaltmaß" again & again. The most comsumers appreciated volume model at VW (apart of Golf) was the Skoda Octavia, 4y old Audi A4 tech for half the price, exactly there they lose brutally. BYD Seal becomes a headache for Tesla Model3 & VW et al.

Humans can't give up an eco system with all its habits & personal benefits easily, or at all. It is so cringe to talk to folks in the German car industry, the idea that people (aka comsumers) already moved on is bewildering to them. They are like spectators of their own execution without realizing.

Neglected truth, do you engineer a classic car (longevity, stable value over time) or a digital mobility device? You can't do both simultaneously. China wins with the latter approach, Europe & US fail to conserve the first in a changed environenment. Who reall cares if a battery lasts 30 years?
