つれづれなるままに、日ぐらし硯に向ひて、心に移り行くよしなしごとを、そこはかとなく書きつくれば、怪しうこそ物狂ほしけれ。
The financial salient they've all driven themselves into is, frankly, Barbarossa-esque.

Mythbusters did an experiment where trips ~400 miles (SF-LA) might be faster to drive the interstate than fly and showed it was very plausible (especially with fewer stops to tap the kidneys).

I'm honestly surprised places like Orlando and LV haven't pushed *hard* for high-speed rail.

This is just a very New Jersey Italian thing.

I think it figured out I'm straight.

I remember one C-suite track idiot I knew back in like 2010 who said it was "like Napster but with banking."

It's not quite ski season yet. Wait until January.

Downloaded this to satiate my hardboiled thirst. It's pretty good, especially if you're from Chicago.

Even though you occasionally drove me nuts while at NWC, I did always think you'd make a good DASD for either the NATO or Russia portfolios.

Basically.
Now the inverse is Florida, which was a bluing state and voted for Obama *twice* but the population the state has picked up since has mostly been cranky Boomers and, especially since covid, MAGA cranks from blue states. IL shed like six figures of deep red population into FL since 2020.

Bears-Eagles after Thanksgiving. The Bears seem to be this year's litmus test team.

Well that's true of pretty much all of us who go to grad school for an academic field. And that first real paycheck and a bank account in the black feels like a winning Powerball ticket after years TAing and living on mac and cheese.
At least a condo builds equity. I bought a Mustang.

During lean times my mother would get the generic toilet paper that still had wood splinters and the tissues that were like 300 grit sandpaper. Getting sick was an adventure in extreme exfoliation. Uber cheap toiletries are a thing that vanished some 30 years ago I very much don't miss.

The one caveat I would have is that the Dotcom bubble ~94-99 was possibly the BEST time to be like 25. Gen X being digitally literate *and* demographically small in a booming economy paid immediate and long term dividends (after the shitshow of being a teen in the 80s).
But that's chance not policy.

Can we just reanimate Lyndon Johnson for a few years?

I imagine if a change were to happen right now it'd be Klobuchar who wins, but she's shown herself to have medizing tendencies lately. Warner would likely want it most and would ratfuck his way to contention but he's just so... ugh.

I've been very hesitant to use the "Nazi" epithet, but the whole "attack in every direction and attempt to immiserate everyone including conspicuous allies" does have a very fascistic ring to it.
