Inflation has increased by 24% since the pandemic and I’ve gotten about a third of that, total, over the years in “cost of living adjustments.” The cause of a lot of that inflation was of course “supply chain disruptions” that conveniently never disappeared after the supply chains were fixed

Speaking of the Smokies (I could talk about them all day), way atop Mount Le Conte (third highest peak in the park) there is an old lodge you can stay in. It’s the highest lodge in the eastern US and you can only hike in — no roads. They get their supplies via…pack llamas!

The Great Smoky Mountains still have that lovable blue haze but no longer due (mostly) to pollutants. The Smokies have a lot of trees and other plants, and they release VOCs that scatter blue light from sun 🌞

#NowWatching Daniel Kokotajlo’s STARVE ACRE, based on the book by Andrew Michael Hurley. I’ve read his Devil’s Day, and I think I have The Loney, but not Starve Acre. Been on a bit of a folk horror kick lately (always)
