Am I allowed to really like the hat I designed for Dr. Omot? The doctor is going to feature in the short promotional comic I'm doing. So I've been drawing him a lot. Kanadak, his main Ur monster, went through some changes since I drew this sketch.

Conceptart for a promotional one chapter comic I'm working on. Terrigul (Flame type) is jumping Kanadak (Glacial) for an attack. But Kanadak has the Iguanodon-like weaponized thumbs to watch out for!

Here you can see a Kannadak scaling a slope in the Munsan mountains. Although fresh mountain lakes is where you will find them most easily. Its ocarina-like blowhorns can create haunting melodies ominously preceding avalanches.

This is still one of my favorite monster designs I did so far. Who doesn't like a knuckle-walking gorilla-horse right? Sasqwoosh is based on the extinct Chalicotherium. It can create eery mist in the dense forests it inhabits.

I finished the side walk-cycles for these lil critters. You will find them struttin all over our gameworld. Once you get hitboxed the true monster gets revealed. They're simple shapes but it was still hard to animate. I'm no pro so they pretty floaty in places. Tips welcome!

With these concepts I wanted to quickly slap on some colors to get the idea across. But I couldn't resist adding some shading to this old one. The mon is Mokdori which is like a brachy-lama hybrid. Mokdori is korean and means scarf or neck(mok)-wrap(dori) litterally.

When I was designing this flying bug monster I immediately imagined our antagonists riding them. Bugs are one of 3 clades in our game, which allows them to have all kinds of types. This is a Arcane type. It wears the skulls of carcasses it consumed.

Mennekee can be found mostly in coastal waters in the land of Ur. Many temples are surrounded by a sacred grove, this one in particular is surrounded by water on top of that. Uyu monks live here. I made a concept of one, earlier.

Makaras can be found in rivers and lakes in the land of Ur. It's based on the actual mythological Makara from India and Sri Lanka, which ranges from elephant with a fish tail to crocodile with a peacock tail. It serves as a guardian to temples.

I can't seem to decide on the colors for this sheep-horned Manatee monster. I also renamed it to Mennekee. So this one is very much still in the conceptual phase. I liked the little temple island in the lake though. You guys any idea about the colors?

The firebreathing Toragon roams his hilly lakeside territory. I thought it was fun to have a dragon-like bug monster that also kinda looks like a long neck dinosaur. Tell me if it's too silly hehe. Another concept sketch for our monster taming game.

Been working on some forest assets. I wanted the canopy to blend together as to not have individual trees just standing there, like is common in top-down rpg's. Somehow I thought this would make it look more like a forest? Do the trees look huge enough? #gamedev #art #indiedev

I always liked how the substitute doll in Pokemon was like it's own thing. So in the overworld of our game you're going to see just these 3 monsters. One for each clade (Fur, Scaly, Crawly). This way we have no random encounters, but still have the surprise effect.

This is Sasqwoosh with it's tamer. It's a monster of the Cyclone type and is based on a Chalicotherium, an extinct knuckle-walking animal that is also sometimes referred to as a "gorilla horse". Because it's already so strange looking, I could go with this design as is. #gamedev #paleoart #art

I definitely looked at these birds but not their chicks yet lol. At one point the colors looked like this.
But you know I thought it looked a little bit too much like a disney villain or something this way. Also because I might want to animate these designs at some point, I want to keep it simple.

This is Terrigul, a Terror-bird Ur for our monster taming RPG. I tried so hard not to get it looking like Final Fantasy's chocobo but here we are with the golden down. It's a Flame type so I tried my best to get something orange or red going, but it just didn't fit on the down. #gamedev #art

Here's two concepts showing tamers and their Uru. Altoca is a Glacial type which has an ocarina like horn on its head. Wiawi is a lovable Deep blue type which locals use to traverse the coasts. It's based on a manatee which we call "sea cow" in dutch. Hence the milky moustache lol. #gamedev #art

This an Uyu Monk with his Mokdori. Uyu monks dedicate their life to the taming of Uru, the monsters in our monster taming game. They live in temple cities beyond the reach of most in the Land of Ur. Mokdori is the base form of Dolmok. It has two blowholes on it's helmet like crest. #gamedev #art #게임
