Also, the OP theme to Galactic Patrol Lensman is seriously just outstanding. There's actually two different versions of the OP sequence itself, with the one that's generally known of (which re-uses the CG sequences from the film) only starting at Ep 9.

I think the first version actually is cooler.

Galactic Patrol Lensman being preserved & subbed by fans is definitely a miracle, but unfortunately Episode 15 came at a cost by having to rely on a multi-generational VHS recording as its "best" source.

Just see the difference between the preview seen in Ep 14 & that same shot in Ep 15 proper!

Now that I've finished reading Galactic Patrol I guess I should finally finish up Fist of the North Star, since Viz has now released it all in English.

I re-read the 2nd half of Volume 16 & have now read all of Volume 17, so I only have one last book to go.

About halfway through Galactic Patrol Lensman now (12 eps out of 25), and the two-parter focused around Admiral Haynes' little granddaughter Lily was definitely... nothing like Lensman at all, even more so than the initial film was. Luckily it was only two eps long.

Also, it gave me this image.

Behold... The Dude from King's Field II/III!

I didn't know you technically played as Jeff Bridges in the game.

OK, after numerous delays, Ablaze's "Volume 1" for Saint Seiya: Time Odyssey, which collects the first five issues they put out a few years back, is still currently set for this Tuesday, November 11.

Except for the digital version, apparently, which is scheduled for next June... *siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

You know what? These dudes count. They wear similar outfits, back each other up, take on a villainous/rival group, & have unique abilities compared to each other.

Fuma no Kojirou live-action is absolutely a Sentai-style tokusatsu show.

Finally put the finishing touches on Obscusion B-SIde #100, which goes over the life & games of Eidos' short-lived Fresh Games label, and that'll go live on Monday.

Swingerz Golf was fine, but otherwise nothing too special, but R-Type Final 1 remains an outstanding & excellent memorization shooter.

Ah, so I see that Relics took some inspiration from Hydlide.

~1/3 of the way through Galactic Patrol Lensman, so I'm now into the "fansubbers had to rely on old TV recordings" part of the show, and while it's long stopped trying to be anything close to a direct adaptation of the book I'm honestly enjoying the show, so far.

The animators also had their fun.

I don't know quite why, but this shot of Kim, Tregonsee, & Worsel from Episode 4 of Galactic Patrol Lensman just makes me laugh. Maybe it's Tregonsee holding out his two side tentacles to show how long they are.

To think, Harmony Gold apparently skipped this episode for its compilation movie edit.

Feeling sad that baseball season has now ended with Game 7 of the World Series? Want a little more baseball in your immediate life?

Well do I have good news for you! This Monday I'll have an overview of the time in the 70s when Weekly Shonen Jump had a Murderers' Row of long-running baseball manga!

New Oh Me, Oh My, OVA! ι: Deus ex Rota III (Trick?... or Treat?)

I went visited the The Almighty Wheel & it sure as hell gave me a very eclectic selection of OVAs to watch. Koichi Ohata, Kazuhiro Fujita, Gataro☆Man, & a true obscurity.

Happy Halloween!

I remember seeing Blue Water Studios' list of English productions back in the day, but for the longest time their old site being Flash-based meant that I couldn't check it out in modern times.

That's not a problem anymore, so here's a composited list of all the pilots & promos they did!

Luffy's going to treat it just like he did with the Buggy Bomb, isn't he?

Oh, dear... are you going to get a new most dramatic line you've ever quoted in the eventual future video about this whole thing in a few years?

It literally says "Avoid use in operations" over at the actual example.com. You think the IANA could fine them, or something?

Trail mix? No, this is only for those who are on trial.

That's what the promotional images showed in the bottom left, at least.

Thanks to some "help" from @ashuraou.bsky.social (i.e. I bought it from him on eBay), I now have the entire (main) No More Heroes Trilogy on Switch, which is cool.

Really should give these games a proper go, as I only played a small bit of NMH1 on Wii way back when.

Clearly the only solution you have is to now buy yourself a Thomas the Tank Engine combiner mech toy.

Yes, this is a real (unlicensed) thing.

Like I said, we've experienced RnK references more than anybody truly realizes.
October 20, 2025 at 3:41 PM
Oooh, another modern-day Ring ni Kakero reference! This one's a cool fusion of Kawai's Jet Upper with the sound effect from Kenzaki's Galatica Magnum (though with only 5 Os, instead of 7).

As I've said, everyone's likely experienced RnK references multiple times without knowing it.

Unless the poop itself is a Pokémon then I couldn't care less. I mean, Digimon did this over 25 years ago.
