A lot of the replies here sound like they're mistaking it for something else tbh. Maybe because it looks vaguely like a puma?

Caracals get up to like 20kg and hunt small animals. If somehow you got one to kill you then you might well be the first person to ever do that.

Bullies are cowards. He'd never pick on someone who might pick back.

Aaron reminds me of being on small forums where the owner's friend gets given a mod role and goes full on Lawful Evil overnight. Apparently those 15-19 yr olds I didn't even trust to run small rp groups back in the early 2000s should have failed upward into corpo "trust and safety" positions.

kind of tangential to this but I still think of brown/sepia as inherently dirty because it tended to show up in a lot of old run down 70s and 80s stuff lol

I always expect it to smell like 8 years of stale tobacco.

which also makes me think it might just be a reaction to all of that, and will probably cycle back around at some point. In the 90s having a lot of muted, pale colours seemed popular with grandparents. So maybe that drove people to the bright colours which drove them back to muted ones.

tbh I don't mind it too much because for me growing up high saturation was mostly something I associated with an abundance of low quality tacky junk. Every plastic toy and junk food wrapper and ad and item of clothing had colours that would make an animal think it had 13 different sorts of venom.

It's like in horror movies where you have the one person who is like "guys this is a shit idea" but gets overruled and they all die. It helps because it shows it's a flaw of the characters rather than the writer just not seeing how dumb it was.

Plus we can all believe that scenario.

I thought Prometheus actually did a pretty good job of making their motivations clear, so it never felt weird to me. Stupid, yes, but even they knew it was stupid.

By contrast Covenant was harsher on my suspension of disbelief. They didn't even briefly consider biosecurity.

for me aspirin. Other painkillers have no effect but that does, idk, maybe it's the blood thinning or something.

I would have thought this would make a decently fun lower budget movie. Not something to spend 110 million on. Most of the book takes place in what could be cramped and/or dark places IIRC. I thought that kinda setting was meant to be cheaper to make in film.

the tension comes from fear some of the characters might *not* die?

weirdly, the early 80s Conan The Barbarian movie, of all things. that soundtrack is carrying a lot of weight.

That they even fake it with their own characters is somehow sadder. Like I hate scammers but at least pure self interest is a straightforward motive. What kind of internal mess creates this...

yes but in fairness the feeling has long established precedent on its side at this point.

lol what the fuck am I reading. That person has never once been outside.

and at least some animals apparently.

I ate a termite once as a kid, it tasted vaguely like wood. Not sure what else I expected.

I think it makes sense if you look at it from a normal human socialization perspective instead of an 'everything online is debate club' perspective.

These are people who do not enjoy your company or want to be around you. They are choosing to walk away. It's healthier than a lot of other reactions.

Krita is pretty easy if you were used to photoshop. Though I've heard users of other art apps say it felt confusing.
