Oooooh, jump maps are very 21st century now. The one I was doing has a boot camp puzzle that gets you started, and each jump (even in the harder levels), you can say a command and it'll spawn a bot that shows you how to do the jump
...at a skill level I cannot hope to match, but it's helpful!

huh! After looking WITH AN OPEN HEART, half of the jump maps are apparently specifically training for 'em. I DID start with "I wanna know how to do this so I can do it in competitive games!" and then vowed not to leave until I beat my map, and went from ZERO to HERO. ...å, I see your recent cheevs!

The maps are cool about that, at least. Some are pretty gung-ho and you have to be A TOUGH COOL to have any fun there, but others will fully heal and reload you once you touch the ground (at the expense of teleporting you back to the beginning of your current puzzle)

Innnn the pre-Source games it was all SURF MAPS but tf2 has JUMP MAPS where you play as soldier (or demoman if you're hard core) ((OR ENGINEER IF YOU'RE EXTREMELY HARDCORE)) and you rocket jump up a few walls as an initial sort of gatekeepery, but then there are (difficult!) rocket jump puzzles

You made me miss TF2 enough to install it, get confused with the new UI, eventually find the server picker, and then close out when I realised nobody hosts the jump map I like any more
