I decided to do the Cursed Relics art challenge (@ cursed.relics over on instagram) this year! I combined all three prompts from week 1 into this drawing: shadowfang blade, lunar scars (on the moon surface), and moonlight scythe.

And the second half! 2023 was when I was still mostly working remote.
1pm: Now my work computer isn’t even letting me log in. I yell “WTF!!” at my laptop. Me: Fine! I’ll just go to the IT help desk at the office! (My laptop replies “ok”) 2pm: I pack up and head out. While waiting at the bus stop I do Duolingo (the bus is late of course) 3pm: I finally arrive at the tower. A couple of my coworkers are there! Matt: Hey Jess, are you here for the company event? Me: Oh, no, I’m actually here to go to the IT help desk. (I’d forgotten about the event) Last panel: I get downstairs and… (Giant sign displaying the words THE IT HELP DESK IS CLOSED) Me: oh 4pm: I go back to my desk and make an IT appointment (with my phone) And then catch the monorail home. 5pm: feeling very hungry and cranky, so I get Skillet on my home. (The best grilled cheese, with tomato soup) 6pm: eat dinner and watch Drawfee and feel less cranky. 7pm: draw a couple hourlies 8pm: do work work to make up some time for this afternoon. 9pm: cleaning break and then talk to Dad and then more work.

7am: alarm goes off 8am: making instant coffee and adding collagen powder 9am: work time! Checking messages, email, uploading completed files… 10am: (wearing my WFH pants) microwaving my coffee because I got engrossed in work and forgot to drink it all. Panel 2: back at my computer, Hmm my guts hurt…is it the coffee or my period starting? 11am: Trying to do an update on my laptop and it’s not working. Dal for (early) lunch! I forgot to buy naan, so I had to eat my dal with a croissant. 11:45-12:15 I use my lunch break for an appointment to get a print framed. 12:30pm It’s actually very nice & sunny, so I stop by a cafe on my way home for a latte! (I’m wearing my outside pants now)

Panel 1: 7pm Drawing hourlies Panel 2: 7:30 pm Wasting half and hour of my life trying to use a government website. The worst UI… Panel 3: 8-10pm More drawing. Goodnight! Listening to this! (The self-titled album from Brightblack Morning Light) Very chill.

Jess, what’s wrong?” Panel 4: Me, sweating: “I forgot my hiking boots at home.” Panel 1: 12PM cont. Gaiters over my sneakers. Not ideal, but that’s ok. Panel 2: And it’s not raining! It feels good to just be outside. [in the woods] Panel 1: 1pm We come across what was probably a logging camp, decades ago. (Pipe? Rusty old stoves, old burned lumber) Panel 2: Me: What d’you think, probably haunted? Alex: (shrug) could be. Panel 3: Anyhow, we ate lunch there.
