I can't even tell you how many times I have been profiled by randos like this.

I do want to bring awareness to the fact that the people's they are targeting are indigenous to the Americas, and these pasty white European descendants have the balls to say *they* do not belong.
‘Northern Exposure’ actor gave ICE agents in Redmond her tribal ID. They called it ‘fake,’ she says
Indigenous actor Elaine Miles of "Northern Exposure" was detained by ICE at a Redmond bus stop. When she showed them her Tribal ID, they told her it was fake.

*pulls up to our food place*
Other half: What do you want?
Me: Big a$$ f-ing burrito, I'm starving!
Other half: *laughs*

Oatmeal for breakfast was too long ago, and I've been hungry for 90 mins now, and somehow managed not to buy everything bad for us in the grocery store. Chunky salsa aside.. 😆

Angraecum didieri orchid. It smells very very very very floral as soon as the run goes down. I keep it in my bedroom and mistakes were made. 😂

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

Got the flu and covid vaccines. Already feel like crap. Every single time. 🤪 Worth it, but also hope I didn't spend the next 36 to 48 under a blanket so I can go to no kings.

Great thread on the distinctive political culture of Portland, by a US historian who is very much from Portland.
What The Hell Is Going On, a thread:

I’ve seen some thinkpieces and posts about Portland protests that fail to understand the long-term hyperspecificity of Portland culture/humor, and frame it as a sort of shitposting meme-pilled ironic thing. Which is wrong.

So I’m gonna give you my breakdown.

Decided to go out and plant some trees with our local nonprofit. We managed to do 600 trees in 2 hours our group was so large. Feeling a little dirty, hot, and sweaty. Also, my arms might be noodles.

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

August was a hard month as we lost both of our geriatric ferrets within a week of eachother. They'll be missed. 💔

In other news I felt this picture was a perfect encapsulation of our current healthcare reality. This used to be a Rite Aid.

As promised on my last post, I'm going to be using my YouTube channel a LOT from now on.

Here -- speaking as an expert on violence in Congress -- I offer some thoughts on yesterday's attack on Senator Padilla.

It has been a while since I posted something, mostly because of how busy I am. The Neofinetia smells like horchata and the Bc. rustic spots doesn't have a smell to me.

My hoya publicalyx splash decided to bloom. I'm still confused about it because everyone said this takes years to mature enough, and I got this as a 2 leaf cutting last year.

Reposting this because @coreydanks.bsky.social and I are 21 shirts away from a nice even 100, and that's when we'll close the pre-order.

Like all our merch, this project has a purpose. We hope it will kick off conversations about deep sea mining & helps us keep the lights on at Skype a Scientist.
Deep sea mining is a *problem* for the organisms living there, but there are so many problems rn that it sometimes falls off the radar.

Wear a shirt! Start a conversation!
