Father, Husband, activist for human rights, labor power, and worker dignity. We are building a future for our children TODAY! Plutocrats are the obstacle.
"Merchants of Doubt" was super serious, and depressing, as was "Zeitgeist".

Yet those two films sit with me perhaps more than any others in 40+ years of watching films.

I get what you're saying, but levity is hard to justify in art with such serious real world implications; though it can be done.

More right wing violence. Harvard challenging Dear Leader angers fascist "patriots" who missed a few hundred history lessons.

I promise you, if you did man on the street polling, not even 5% of Americans have ever heard of Duterte or Palantir.

I also know the right owns tech, or at least a marriage proposal has been issued and accepted.

At the end of the day they would evaporate the oceans if they could get a 12% return.
April 20, 2025 at 6:17 PM
People should still watch it.

Especially if they have children.
April 20, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Everyone with a screen needs to see this film.

Unfortunately, the people who really need to see it won't watch.
April 20, 2025 at 6:09 PM
"The Event" comes next.
Perhaps it's already begun?

We'll know by 2026.

We've allowed some of the worst, most extremist ideologues and literal criminals to grab the reins of government.

I was struck by her saying her grandmother was "keeping the receipts".

I also do that. Anyone with a brain can see what's happening.

People need to see this.
April 20, 2025 at 6:04 PM
It's terrifying
April 20, 2025 at 6:02 PM
One could probably do a companion documentary about how Big Tech can also manipulate which movies go viral and which don't.

It's the most disturbing thing I've maybe ever seen.

I follow American politics closely and much of this took me by surprise.

Bannon needs to be in prison.
April 20, 2025 at 6:00 PM
I stopped watching it too about 1/3 through.

However, I have to finish.
I have a child in this world and we can't just bury our heads in the sand.

The people who fall for the right's misinformation and the people who bury their heads are the ones who permit this becoming reality.
April 20, 2025 at 5:57 PM
Yea, it's on Max and it's terrifying.
April 20, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Terrifying film.
April 20, 2025 at 5:52 PM
I don't know. I think it's really clever. Maybe the rewinds are a bit too long, but....

Ooof.
I follow politics pretty closely and even I missed some of this stuff.

People need to wake up somehow.
April 20, 2025 at 5:50 PM
They can do as they please and I will join them.

However, we need to figure out a strategy to make people vote and to elect leaders who support human rights and destroying the oligarchy first and foremost.

You save the drowning person with CPR first? Or do you pull them out of the water?
April 12, 2025 at 12:32 PM
That honestly breaks my heart.
April 12, 2025 at 11:20 AM
Absolutely not. You're 100% correct.

Their hatred is a learned behavior and they ignore science on the issue and many others.

They are the target of billionaire propaganda.

The science on tobacco/cancer link was out in 1962. Yet the right persisted for over 50 years, lying, paid phony science.
April 12, 2025 at 10:52 AM
The right sees it as an effective strategy.

Agreed on uninspiring. Corporate neoliberal centrism.
April 12, 2025 at 10:41 AM
Coming for anyone is not acceptable. Not even undocumented immigrants.

We have to fight any attempts to hurt the LGBT+ community, i.e.,human beings. Physically, if necessary.

However, in the midst of that, front and center on the national stage, we need people to identify as the working class.
April 12, 2025 at 10:33 AM
That is happening because it is a policy choice by Republicans and conservatives.

Something we can never change if we are not in power.
April 12, 2025 at 10:23 AM
And that is what I want for you.

I'm talking about national political strategy and winning elections. Convincing workers in red States to see themselves as workers and to see the oligarchy as the enemy. Not trans people not anyone but Organized Money.
April 12, 2025 at 10:21 AM
I never really understood it until now, and always scoffed when right wing kooks said it, but some people have a penchant for turning allies into unnecessary opposition.

When you're in contract negotiations, there are only TWO SIDES - MANAGEMENT AND LABOR.
