🌷New Research highlight showcases Arrowsmith et al. (2025), which shows that temperature alone can shift pollinators’ floral choices in diverse plant–pollinator communities. Such thermally-driven species interaction rewiring may have important consequences. ➡️ buff.ly/i5QrFjd

We wrote about poop — and it went viral. 💩

Mongabay’s story on how tapir latrines support forest regeneration caught global attention — even from DiCaprio.

That’s the power of independent journalism.

Lower ungulate population density in rainforests under anthropogenic influences 🦌

Highlights how threats such as
👉Poaching 📉
👉Predation by domestic dogs 🐕
👉Disease transmission 🧪
👉Disturbance by wild boar 🐗

...may potentially lead to species extinction 🌏

🚨 Paper alert @jappliedecology.bsky.social 🌿🦌
Human pressures—poaching, invasive species & domestic animals—are the strongest predictors of lower deer density in rainforest. 🧵👇 @agenciafapesp.bsky.social @cnpq.bsky.social

📢 New research alert! 🌿🐾

We developed an Anthropogenic Influence Index (AII) using local indicators to assess human impact on mammals at rainforests.

Thrilled to share our newly published paper and my first first-author paper. We used hunting sign data from long-term monitoring in the Ebo forest, Littoral-Cameroon, to explore the spatiotemporal patterns of hunting activities.

Wolf Predation on White‐tailed Deer Before, During, and After a Historically Mild Winter in Northern Minnesota
We estimated kill rates of wolves on deer before, during, and after a historically mild winter in the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem, Minnesota, USA. Kill rates of wolves on deer were low in fall, peake...

New paper out! On estimating mammal density using vertically oriented #cameratraps. Yes we can!
This works in forests that have vandalism, fire, or elephants. Or all three, like Bardia National Park, Nepal.
