That's a good one. I can't turn my back on a moral standard that consequential. For what I said before to stand, other people/families need to have the same privilege, rights, community etc. If my family were fighting against that I would love them still, but I could never stand with them.

Would definitely be something to put more thought into (this is a knee jerk response) but I doubt the answer is as simple as the question.

It's a tough question, obviously day to day my family is always on my mind and always comes first but a strong country provides my family general safety, opportunity, rights and community. The question of which comes first is difficult because on some level they are synonymous imo.

Unfortunately I think the motivation is virtue signaling for their social circle and a complete separation from any facts or reality (illustrated by your example of protesting climate change at an all electric race). It's fucking regarded. Psyop level bad is a great description.
