It might be too much hassle to add, but I'd also be curious about when books were queried. Thinking of my own journey, year is important context because querying in 2022 was SO different from querying in 2015.

Totally! And I think it's so important to know when looking at the numbers will help and when it won't.

Different genres, the industry rapidly changing, all the other little factors, it usually is apples to oranges.

I filled out Kate's survey because I do like data and appreciate the attempt to collect it. But saying my last queried book had a 9% request rate feels like an oversimplifcation.

FWIW, I have been very transparent about my querying experience... five books over a decade.

How I *didn’t* get an agent -
In a few months, I'll hit the ten year anniversary of the very first query letter I ever sent. If you couldn't guess from the title or my constant whining on Twitter, I still do not have an agent. I g...

And I suppose it's good to see a lot of different approaches to querying so you can have ideas of what's possible. But ultimately there's no guaranteed approach, and you can do all the same things as successful people and not be successful.

Feels important to take any wins right now!

I know, I know the dem establishment is disappointing. This still feels like a huge win in a deeply red state where progress is slow and always a huge uphill battle.

Days like this are a milestone querying!

My personal favorite was getting a query rejection, a job interview rejection, and a rejection from someone I asked out on the same day.

Protege move Been Reading the Files also feels at least very socialite Maeve... just has info on everyone.

Definitely interested, though I think I also gravitate to character over world. But I'd love to try it.

And Kissing Capes has been on my radar and I've totally wanted to try it but just haven't had the chance yet.

As someone who's only played a handful of ttrpgs (mostly Masks tbh), what's one you would recommend for expanding my horizons?

Please forgive the misplaced modifier, it's too Monday for me to grammar.

I want events to succeed, and I think it's harder than ever in the current environment. I've also seen a lot of well-intentioned events fall apart because they failed to consider potential issues that could (and did) arise.

So yeah, if you're planning something and want my two cents, reach out.

I like this, I do feel like the pro soccer vs pediatrics is a bigger hook than the frat party, but buried a bit futher in.
