I was previously unaware that Hunter Biden is exactly how I need to start every day
Hunter Biden has a point. And a quite colorful one.

if your sick wife is like three hours from death, busting her free to smoke meth and get railed to slayer one last time is fuckin awesome and sweet and you can't convince me otherwise

Another astute thread by Sean, who I regularly lament does not live near me, because I'd be buying him a drink every time he posted something great, and he would be fucking wasted all the time
The GOP has spent the last 50 years gradually building a system where protest is harder than it's ever been -- and a system where it's culturally disrespected at a level that's hard to comprehend.

For starters, if most Americans take time off to protest nowadays they'll lose their home.
I'm beginning to realize that too many Americans are simply too lazy to stop fascism.

Wisdom right here
Cynicism is and will always be cowardice masquerading as wisdom
Hey doomers in my mentions: Cut it out. Declaring nothing matters and we are inevitably doomed is a form of obeying in advance.

"Voetsek," by the way, is a real winner. It is how one would shoo a dog, she says.

I have not a single follower who isn't already aware of the trembling, pants-shitting enthusiasm I have for this book and the totally random woman who wrote it. But this review of said book is a fittingly inventive tribute. Wipe your butts when you're done
I’ve got a new review (of sorts) up at @nerdsofafeather.bsky.social, of a genuinely innovative book that left me fascinated the whole way through, and left me feeling like I owed the effort in return in writing about it. Remember You Will Die by Eden Robins, A*.

Couldn't agree more, and for every one of those same reasons, I'm going all in on REMEMBER YOU WILL DIE by E. Robins
I love this question and I think I have to go with David Mitchell's CLOUD ATLAS

✅️ Nonlinear narrative
✅️ All the genres
✅️ Funny/sad/everything in between
✅️ Imaginative and fucking epic
What are people's most ARCHETYPICAL novels? Not your FAVORITES per se, but the ones that best exemplify your tastes in novels, distilled into a single work?

Mine is probably Susanna Clarke's "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell."

I recently saw The Wicker Man (1973) for the first time as well.

Hard to tell if it's creepily sensual or sensually creepy. It doesn't make a *ton* of sense, and it's very, very Scottish.

It's like watching a Donovan album
I watched the 1973 Wicker Man for the first time last night, all of it an absolutely unexpected delight, especially Christopher Lee who I didn’t imagine was going to appear looking so spry and youthful as Lord Summerisle wearing his comfy yellow turtleneck sweater
