My first thoughts on reading the headline are "foolish and hateful, I'm glad they were stopped" but then I read which island they were looking at and realized that "planned" was an incredibly generous term. Like, the biggest island? White supremacy, among many other things, creates such delusions.
Gavin and Tanner, planned and trained for nearly a year, legal documents say, in an elaborate attempt to invade a Haitian island, kill its Black men, enslave its Black women and Black children and fulfill their "rape fantasies."

NTX men planned to murder men, enslave women on foreign island: Indictment
Two North Texas men have been indicted for an alleged scheme to sail to a foreign island, murder all the men, and enslave the women and children.

💔 Alice Wong’s last words: “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”

We can never thank Alice enough for fighting all the good fights and especially all the hard fights. We all learned so much from your brilliance, your courage, and your indefatigable leadership. We will never forget you.

Listen, the fact that this seems to be printed on paper and taped outside the Oval Office is, on its own, very funny.
this looks like a trick daffy duck would put up to get bugs bunny into "the oval office"

The Pride and Prejudice movie does such a great job of pacing…and truly, Donald Sutherland role as Mr. Bennett, so affecting.

Watch A House of Dynamite—it should have been a series that let the ideas and consequences flow a bit more. It's wild how some fairly big-name stars only got like a minute of airtime. Some dialogue, particularly in the second half, needed help. And the ending was a disappointment.

1)You may remember the articles criticizing liberal students for their hesitancy to make friends with conservative students—alleging that they were less open-minded than their conservative counterparts.
Here are the little darlings they’ve created. Horrifying.

You know its a bad sign for your day when your morning caffeine seems to do almost nothing to improve your sleepiness or the heaviness of your eyelids.

I love Stanley Tucci as an actor, but I would also be completely content if he became like a David Attenborough of Italian culture and cuisine. Just pop out a documentary series once a year - he has the right blend of composure and enthusiasm.

Kayleigh McEnany on Jimmy Kimmel's suspension: "For all the concern about the 'the First Amendment, the First Amendment,' what about all the amendments that Charlie Kirk lost? Because Charlie Kirk has no amendments right now. None."

This is absurd and cruel and utterly beneath decent human beings. Trans people deserve everything, especially after what we have put them through.
I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset.

As many have said, a great emotional intelligence marker that we seem to be failing is confusing disliking something with being offended. They are not the same.

The thing that amuses me most about this Cracker Barrel logo thing - is the remake is 100% in line modernization trends for logos. It's easier for branding, it's immediately reminiscent of the old logo - I mean, its boring but it makes sense. Its the most inoffensive update. And people are offended.

I wish I had saved it, someone posted recently that Newsom is like the TRex in Jurassic Park. We're totally fine when he's attacking the other scary dinosaurs, but you don't want his attention turned on you. This enemy of your enemy is not your friend. Don't mistake him for your savior.

Your whiteness, or your proximity to whiteness, will not save you. If you are in the way of their conquest, they will find a reason to other you and make you the enemy.
Stephen Miller: "All these demonstrators that you've seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they're not part of the city and never have been ... we're gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old."

Our education on historic authoritarian regimes is lacking because it often only explores the most horrific aspects - leaving out the less affected people who still went to work, weren't targeted, etc. It's made it harder for us to recognize the arrival of fascism.

Just to reiterate: What this administration is doing right now is orders of magnitude more dangerous for academic freedom and free speech than anything the right has spent the last 30 years complaining about.
Faculty who wrote to defend their president and object to a DOJ investigation of their university...are now being investigated by the DOJ.
The most banal defense of free speech and academic freedom will trigger the full wrath of the US government now.
