It was great to be able to visit a bluebell wood this year. Last year the weather was too wet! Bluebell, Celandine, Wood Anemone and Yellow Archangel, 20 April, 2025. Hard to choose a #favouriteplant, but I think I'll go for the Wood Anemone or Windflower. #wildflowerhour

Scentless Mayweed, #DaisyFamily overshadowed by a plant that has recently appeared in the park, but only in soil brought in from elsewhere after a new cycle path was built. Photo, right, shows it dominating replacement soil, compared to original. No idea what it is. #wildflowerhour #wildflowerid

Scentless Mayweed is by far the smaller, on the ground beneath a taller plant with spikes of small white flowers, name unknown to me. On the right, a photo showing how the taller, unknown, plant is growing in the park. It appeared after a new cycle path was built. Soil was brought in from elsewhere to replace that removed for the work. Where the new soil was laid, is now covered with this unknown plant, with few other species. The photo shows the difference in vegetation between the undisturbed soil, and the replacement soil.

Only found White Dead Nettles for #Deadnettlefamily this week. Two different places, next to footpaths, on verges that had been cut earlier this year. #WildflowerHour

This flat area was covered by portable cabins for building work for a few months. The flowers that were there disappeared. Cabins have now gone, flowers have returned: Yarrow, Lady's Bedstraw and Bladder Campion.
