So, today I learned that Dick Halloran, the character from Stephen King's The Shining made famous by Scatman Crothers was almost played by Slim Pickens, of Blazing Saddles (and riding a nuclear bomb like a bull in Dr. Strangelove) fame.

I can't stress how awful of a decision that would have been.

I don't use Red Note, but, I had a VERY similar experience when the youtube shorts algorithm introduced me to Chongqing. I INSTANTLY fell down a rabbit hole of videos about the city & what daily & nightly life there is like.

I haven't felt a longing for a place I've never been to as strong as that.

Berserk is so freaking good. I really enjoyed that part of your video a ton (mostly because I haven't seen/read Vinland Saga, Gurran Laggan, or One Piece yet).

I just keep finding new ways to love Berserk, and your video gave me one.

Today's my nephew's first birthday. So of course, I got him an almost 50 inch long (126 cm for folks using a real measuring system), 1:18 to real life scale, Jurassic Park Legacy Collection Mamenchisaurus.

Ya gotta get em while they're young after all.
