The "Skinny House" in Boston is a very narrow home, measuring only 10.4 feet wide and has an interesting backstory.
Two brothers inherited a piece of land from their father. Whilst one brother was serving in the army the other built a large house taking up most of the land.

2/ When the soldier returned, to discover what had happened he built a narrow house on the small piece of land to spite his brother. This house blocked sunlight and ruined his brother's view, causing a rift between the two brothers

Rose Cottage Chedworth is in Glos. Well it was before Henry Ford saw it, fell in love and had the c1620 cottage removed brick by brick to Michigan, USA

The Marriage House sits on the end of the bridge over the River Tweed at Coldstream, Northumberland. Runaway couples would get married there until 1856 when the practise was stopped.

This Georgian style cottage was probably built in 19th century.
Whitewash was used to soften the appearance of these hard limestone buildings whilst the interesting decorative lip mouldings above the windows and door help to deflect rainwater

In the Northamptonshire village of Aynho many old cottages have Apricots growing up their walls.
These had been given to the local householders by the Lord of the Manor. The locals were then required to pay their tithes in Apricots rather than money. #HouseHistory

The Old House in New St, Salisbury is over 700 years old with flintstone and slate walls. It certainly is very interesting and could tell a story or two but it does beg the question - What was the Old House called when it was new?

Silbury House is an example of cottages built within the Avebury Circle in Wiltshire

Composer Benjamin Britten was born on this day in this house on Cliff Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk, England. Now a Grade II listed building, it was home to his family for 21 years. Young Britten is even recorded here in the 1921 census. 🎶 #BenjaminBritten #HouseHistory
