I GET SAD ABOUT HER DEATH TOO AND I KILLED HER... but thank you soso much. Jo + Theo are partly my go of trying to write commonly flat villain archetypes (ugly little freak, stern rich mother) with love and humanity. Still nasty 'cuz I love writing people behaving badly, but with my heart in it. <:)

That contrast is really central to their character duo, her seeming to embody this ideal of refinement and class while Theo is so... not. He wishes he could be as perfect as she is, but she loves him as he is, however imperfect.

Thank you... I love drawing scenes with them and writing their interactions! I do it just because it makes me happy to write these weirdos but it's nice that it's not only enjoyable to me!

Ha yeah the species doesn't track 100%. His dad is showcases more the gregarious, adaptable, clever side of rats, while Theo embodies more of the negative stereotypes and behaviors. (Though the species will always be imperfect since all my OCs were human first with the furry versions added later)

Haha yeah I think a lot of "former weird kids" (now weird adults) might relate to his issues. My childhood vices were licking metal including chair legs, chewing on my arms and pulling out my hair (but not eating it, at least).
Now I just bite my nails which is at least a more common bad habit. :P

Haha I do love (some interpretations of) the Penguin (others are very much not my bag, such is the way with comics), that is true!
Though it's convergent evolution in Theo's case; his appearance especially and parts of his mien were inspired by Peter Lorre characters!

Probably denial if I'm being honest, or figuring out better ways to avoid revealing them.
I don't think anything would have kept him away from Hyden, because that was originally spurred by jealousy and need for accolades, which are such deep-seated flaws he'd be a different man without them.

Thank you! Trying to figure out a faster way to answer questions like this and the monochromatic approach is my latest attempt. ^^; I'm never sure whether some choice I've made looks decent so I'm glad it's pretty!

Ah ok, sorry for misunderstanding. It always makes me a bit nervous when people will say something like "X IS SO HOT BUT Y IS UGLY" because I don't know if that means "x is the only one in this drawing that's my type" or "y is badly drawn and looks like shit" OTL

Despite his protestations, he has gnawed on furniture in the past and he will do so again. That bad behavior's a little more destructive than poor posture, though not so easily corrected.

But I'm unusually indecisive, sloppy, distractible and not very confident with respect to art-making, so that adds time compared to someone more sure of themselves who has a better handle of the artistic process, haha... orz

Haha that's exactly it. He only obeys the rules when he's being watched and his sense of morals is informed more by "will I get in trouble" instead of "is this wrong."
As for lineart... a very long time. :'D Easily hours on one-character pics with no bgs, ranging from 2 hrs to like... 12.
