I am not normally a multiplayer guy, but ARC Raiders has thoroughly ensnared me the past few days. Absolutely digging the Skynet post-apocalypse mixed with Star Wars original trilogy aesthetics, all brought together in a thoughtfully designed extraction shooter package.

I was just going to drop my own hot take on this and say what would really fix this segment is bringing back Anthony Higgs from Other M. He's got actual chemistry with Samus and could bring comic relief that actually works. Even the OM haters usually acknowledge that Higgs was the man.

The new Steam hardware is cool (except for that hideous controller, sorry guys), though I don't really have a use case for any of it at the moment. Already recently converted my old rig into a hybrid console using Playnite, and I'm still not comfortable with gaming on Linux yet.

You could swap Leto for Keanu Reeves and Ares still wouldn't be saved. It's just unfortunately a mediocre exposition-heavy plot; driven by too many MacGuffins and not much else. Support the franchise instead by buying the blu-ray of Tron Legacy if you haven't already. It still holds up.

Maybe a lukewarm take now but tbh I always thought MS was a bad influence on the industry. Xbox pretty much pioneered overpriced dlc practices and charging for basic online play while coasting on Halo as its sole killer app. I never got the sense that they were in it for the love of games.

I'm still enamored by MiSide. It was just such a cool experience taking Half-Life's approach of storytelling while always keeping the player in control, and mixing it with a batsh*t anime plot, amazing atmosphere, and puzzle solving reminiscent of old school point and click adventures.

My top 10 doesn't get shaken up too often, but the last upset was probably A Hat in Time usurping Mario 64 as my favorite 3D platformer. Funnily enough I had heard of this game for a while but ignored the hype until sometime around 2020-2021 when I finally played it.

Listen, I love 8bitdo but these over-designed controllers are getting ridiculous. Stop adding buttons and gizmos everywhere. All I need is an 8bitdo Pro 2 minus the back paddles and you already have the pinnacle of controller design. Thanks.

Just throwing this out there for no particular reason but America is collectively due for a rewatch of V for Vendetta. A film made before all the woke nonsense of Hollywood, when a superhero movie could just be fun and cool with no "agenda" whatsoever... Maybe we could learn some lessons from it?

Finished off my new PC with the most important feature: real life ray tracing. Doesn't get any more performant than that ladies and gents.

PGReviews got me all hyped to replay Mario 64 again after his recent (and excellent) retrospective, so I got my PC version all updated this week to play the game in the shiniest way possible.
