New: Meta is restructuring its AI teams again after a big hiring spree. The org now has four distinct teams, all rolling up to Alexandr Wang (formerly Scale AI). This is according to an internal memo sent by Wang this morning... via @rileyraygriffin.bsky.social

I don't understand how this can *ever* make it into a policy document as acceptable chatbot behavior. Pretty inexcusable.

Agrawal is still fighting Musk in court for his $50m (!) in severance, but he's also clearly trying to turn a page here and move on to something new
August 14, 2025 at 4:11 PM
You may recall that Musk fired Agrawal immediately upon closing the Twitter deal, and withheld his severance. (Agrawal now suing.)

I would have thought Agrawal would have taken off and hunkered down on a beach somewhere. Instead he immediately started brainstorming new company ideas in Palo Alto.

What happens when Mark Zuckerberg moves into the neighborhood? Great read about the Facebook founder's years-long effort to build a private compound in Palo Alto

Not the pivot I was expecting....

Linda Yaccarino has a new job: Running eMed, "a telehealth company that offers access to weight-loss drugs"

New: Meta's board went to trial Wednesday over shareholder claims that they overpaid the FTC several years ago to personally protect Mark Zuckerberg from being held responsible for Cambridge Analytica

This morning the two sides reached a settlement. Zuck was set to testify next week

I've been wondering for a while now whether X might just slowly fade away from advertising. Its main value seems to be in providing training data to xAI anyways? Linda Yaccarino's departure seems to signal that X is becoming a very different kind of business...

NEW: Meta's Scale AI investment is done.

* $14.3B invested
* $29B valuation
* Scale CEO Alexandr Wang is joining Meta in an senior AI role

More color: Zuckerberg is hosting people at his homes in Palo Alto and Tahoe as part of the recruiting process. He's also rearranging the office so that this new team will sit next to his desk. He wants to be immersed in the AI org.
June 10, 2025 at 7:14 AM
More: Among those expected to join the new superintelligence team is Alexandr Wang, CEO of Scale AI. Meta is expected to invest billions into Scale AI, and Wang is then expected to join Meta if all goes according to plan

New from @nytimes.com: Elon Musk was heavily using drugs last year on the campaign trail with Trump.

Long speculated, now officially reported.

This is the second week in a row a company has announced a partnership deal with xAI that Musk/X then later denied. Last week was Kalshi, this week Telegram.

What is happening here?

Will any of this actually work? Stay tuned...so far, results have been minimal. Zuckerberg, for example, still had to testify for three days in DC last month while the US government tries to break up his company. Trump could theoretically help, but so far hasn't.
May 27, 2025 at 6:41 PM
One motivating factor, we're told, is that Zuck watched Elon Musk do pretty much whatever he wanted wrt politics & was rewarded.

Zuckerberg donated $400m to covid pollsters and was attacked. Musk donated $250m to Trump and gained immense power

Zuck developed a sense of "Elon Envy," sources say

Employees, too, were not all impressed with eliminating DEI, cutting back content rules and bringing more "masculine energy" to the workplace. Zuckerberg was challenged on all of this by senior leaders during a Q&A in January, including an exchange where he was asked to define "masculine energy"
