I tried to ignore it, but I eventually geeked out and took it off a *second* time and glued it back on. Then I mixed some paint to reapply to the naked areas (because hot glue sticks to paint) and it's all good now.

So while taking out the chinstraps of the helmet, I had to take off the metal plate in order to get a better grip on it (it was that difficult) and when I glued it back on, I realized too late that it was misaligned.
