Some would say I switch interests too frequently. I would argue that I’ve mastered the art of staying interested in one topic just long enough to gain insight into small section of it.
Over the weekend I’ve exterminated with direct digital synthesis with aliasing. The outcome being an ESP-32 flicking a pin at 80MHz resulting in modulated transmissions at 400+ MHz.
There is prior art of doing this to transmit LoRa messages.

I’m going to have to do a write up on this.

I made this yesterday.
For some reason it caused some of my text fields to type text is reverse direction.
The cursor would move to the front of the field after each letter.
Confusion ensued 🤣

Let’s call it what it is

Flying back from Bangkok. It was amazing to see everyone

I’ve been playing with CDMA based single wire comms on micro-controllers using Hadamard Transform. It seems doable using regular uC ADC to receive 64-128 coherent signals at the same time at few kbps.

Then I through again why? You can do better than that using i2c and polling every endpoint.

It is great to stumble onto Bluesky in the wild as I was showing edX to a friend of mine. @cs50.bsky.social

Interesting pricing update from Kagi.
I very much like how transparent they are about pricing and costs. My first instinct was to minimise my bill. Their openness changed my mind.

Update to Kagi Search pricing | Kagi Blog
It has been a while since our last update ( https://blog.kagi.com/kagi-search-dec22-update ) , and we have been busy with three main large-scale initiatives: a new pricing model that ensures Kagi’s sustainability, new plans including Family plans, and enhancing search experience with generative AI tools.

Statistics question/exploration
Attached are samples of observed transitions. There is one true vector defining independent probability of each state but during sampling transition to the same state is disallowed.
I have a solution but it seems overkill

Both of USB-C ports in my X1 Carbon are failing 😕
I was looking for a new notebook either way but I will try to get this one repaired, it is too good to turn into e-waste.

I've been learning about Bayesian data analysis recently. The ability to treat a parameter of a model as a probability distribution is something I've been missing since the first time I tried applying statistics in the real world. [1/?]

It’s a rare but such a good feeling when you start a brainstorm session with a X problem at hand only to, after all, leave convinced that there is no problem at all by considering the underlying requirements.

The scroll bug/edge case I’m hitting is related to the side menu.
Touch the feed, move your finger the in the most minute way to the right and try to scroll.
February 2, 2023 at 6:26 AM
Or this might be the other reason why scrolling seems to be getting stuck for me.
There is a sweet spot of a long press where the post won’t open but if you try to scroll further it won’t.
It takes couple tries to hit it.

Minute feature/bug report: trying to scroll starting at the “new post” button doesn’t scroll. For some reason my gig we naturally lands in that spot. With this out seriously, put it in a backlog.
I’m looking at you Paul.

feature request if not already in the backlog: pasting an image should attach it instead of pasting

So I kept trying to use the BlueSky app to trigger the Blue Sky event but the app is either broken or there is some local debuff.
Anyone found a workaround?

4am: Go to bed
Accidentally start reading an interesting article
5am: Force yourself to stop and try to fall asleep
6am: You can’t fall asleep because you keep thinking about that article
6:30am: Finish that article

I just spent 5min trying to log in into Bluesky because I had saved email in the password manager and login prompt would only work with username.

The best part is, the password reset works with the email. 😂

The back and forth responses in threads could be a bit better.
Something to push into the deep queue of homepage improvements.

Sometimes when I try to scroll, it just won’t. No idea what causes it 🤷‍♂️

Small bug report, I can go via email if that is better. When resizing avatar the crop circle disappears/becomes almost completely transparent.
