I find that whether the rich behave pro-socially really matters.

Support for taxing the rich goes up when the rich use tax loopholes, treat their workers badly, do not give to charity.

Indicators of merit (coming from a wealthy family, not having a strong work ethic) matter less or not at all.

I generally love my adopted country, the US. But I have been increasingly antsy about something I couldn't quite define for years now, and today this sentence came out of nowhere and seemed to sum it all up.
