Right? BUT NT folk think we're saying, "oh, here's a way to make the conversation all about ME!!"

From my understanding -- and maybe I'm wrong in this -- but the tick boom is due to climate change and the fact that we don't get down to single digits much anymore for a long enough period to kill off a decent chunk of the ticks....

That's what they don't seem to understand. They're not "stealing our jobs" -- they're doing jobs no one else wants to do!

I've never been called out, BUT have lost friends over it, or felt like it made conversations awkward. I didn't know WHY until I got diagnosed with AuDHD two years ago.

It always makes me laugh when NT folks say that we have issues communicating... um, we speak our minds and are direct. We empathize by sharing similar events/stories. We pebble. Etc etc

I think it is in fact neurotypicals that have issues communicating, with their chitchat and euphemisms...

.. you may find yourself doing something like this a lot, AND being called out for it by neurotypicals.
December 3, 2024 at 5:31 AM
It's a very neurodivergent thing to do. Not sure if you are, BUT it's how ND people show they understand, by saying, "a similar thing happened to me, I empathize!" And is not in any way meant to be a one-upping that neurotypicals see it as, making the convo about you.

So if you're ND, that's why...
