That chapter (Smart Chip) is great, one of the best from that book

The less you have the more risk adverse you should be. Similar to neophobia on hurt animals.

That makes sense, thanks for the response!

I’m curious why use DirectX 9. It seemed that 90% of PCs were above that?

I was very disappointed when I bought the latest version (10 I think) when I realized it was not a desktop app. I loved the windows version back in the day

Hope you feel better soon!

Surprised your bullet is the same. For me bullet is always at least 100/200 points lower than blitz. Its hard to think that fast

I remember being stuck for months on the submarine part.

Woo! Congrats :)

Definitely saw my reflection in your article. Even when I understand that I need to lose to improve it’s still hard to put myself out there.

I would love to see the rating before, during and after! As a viewer I like it better when it’s a difficult goal so I like that you have ups and down. I would also like to see the clock. Maybe it’s not as critical as in blitz but I think it’s still a factor. Overall I like it!

Good to know, thanks!

Oh yeah I got that. I finished book 1 last year but wasn’t sure if book 2/3 get much harder. A few chapters were stretching my abilities in book 1
January 7, 2025 at 3:46 PM
Good job! How did you find the difficulty level changed between books?
January 7, 2025 at 2:50 AM
Yeah. This change is similar to how Netflix started cracking down on some users to increase their revenue.

I assume at some point they will bundle it with chesscom subscription. I have been a pro member for years but never felt it had any real benefit.

It’s really good!

I would recommend the 2. e6 Sicilian. Shares a lot of structures that are similar to the French and it's good against a bunch of anti-sicilians. It's also not as common as other Sicilians so even if they are booked you will probably be better prepared.

Funny you say that. I tried the exchange as White for a year and my results were mediocre at best :)

If you choose the French you will have a lot more familiarity with the structures than the White player. Even the exchange :)

That’s a tough endgame, good job

I have tried Chessvis app in the past to stretch my working memory (by progressively adding more moves to visualize). Not sure if it can help you

I see. given I have never been able to do it I figure my brain figured out a way to compensate somehow when I was younger. I imagine how frustrating it is for you given that you were able to do it at some point
