New post!

“Living requires that we harness joy because the body can only take so much despair. I’ve found that joy in new friendships, which, as Cicero wrote ‘improves happiness and abates misery, by the doubling of our joy and dividing of our grief.’”

New post up on Blue Violet, my Substack. It’s not just about Barbie tho “Barbie was one of my earliest influences, her plastic proportioned body dressed and undressed in my hands, where I learned what arms, breasts, stomach, and thighs were supposed to look like.”

New post up today with beginning contemplations on chronic illness and weight loss. I hope these writings help at least a few people feel less overwhelmed and alone in their own bodies, and I’d love to talk about it in the comments or 1:1.

Good advice for getting out of a writing rut.
Write something COMPLETELY different. If you're stuck on fiction, write an essay. If you're trying to write sci-fi, write historical fiction.

If it's good, you've greased the wheels and gotten your brain moving; if it's bad, so what bc it's not what you were trying to write anyway

Self-promotion thread.

What work of yours do you want to promote?

It doesn't have to be commercial. If you've painted something or done some interesting needlepoint, that counts too.

(If you don't create, post something you've enjoyed)
