This is another Perth, Western Aus #spider. Tasmania has lots of this common peacock spider, Maratus pavonis, but the Tas version is much rounder and a lot smaller. They are equally cute though. This male had decided to wander through the kitchen of our flat. #invertebrates

Beeflies look like tiny bees but are actually the cutest flies ever. This one is gold dusted and perfectly coordinated with the trigger plant flower it was sitting on. Wandoo NP, Western Australia. #fly #invertebrate

Sorry spider haters, but this was just the most beautiful beast & I knew (nearly everyone) would need to see it 😉. It sat frozen, up on its toes, on the edge of Leeman (WA) salt lake while I took pics. Unfortunately it was too big (body length 1.4cm) for my lens. #spider #Lycosidae #Tetralycosa

Everyone loves a jewel #beetle. This is Castiarina picta, which seems locally abundant but I think may be only found in Western Australia. #insect #buprestidae #invertebrate

This is slow TV but I’m missing my dogs. After breakfast & romping, Musty & Nessa like to play “share the bone shard”. This involves having a chew, then passing it back & forward. Usually many passes happen, but Musty got distracted. It’s a lovely down-time ritual to watch.

I'm back in WA at the moment. Unlike their Tasmanian counterparts, these beautiful native cockroaches come out and sunbake on leaves during the day. Invasive cockroaches give them all such a bad name. The native Australian varieties are like little works of art. Ellipsidion australe

Hobart had a big hail dump mid afternoon today.

Lots of Tasmanians at the Nationwide March for Palestine in Nipaluna/Hobart today.

What happened while we listened to the last 4 songs on the hottest 100 (& I typed to you). Musty was not the main offender. She is remaining anonymous (& there’s something going on in the kitchen).

Kunanyi/ Mount Wellington. Hobart, Tasmania absolutely stunning this morning.

Our cumquat is a twig in comparison, but I suspect we may have similar neighbours.

Wow! Just in case anyone else has put a cat hammock in a sunny window (as every hammock buyer would). Here are our curtains smouldering! The plastic suction pads are shaped perfectly to magnify & focus the rays. A terrible design fault that will burn houses down. They need to be opaque & recalled.

Life is tough on a dark & gloomy winter’s day…..until the heated blanket gets turned on…

It’s so beautiful today. I’ve just got back from a walk on the beach. Soooo lucky

The promise of another balmy winter’s day. Hobart, Tasmania.

Snap! Except it’s sunrise in Tasmania, and not nearly as pretty. Looks like your loss is our gain ( for 12 hours or so ;-) ).

The ambling Derwent Jerry, a little earlier this morning. If I’d kept the time lapse going for probably half an hour more, our house will end up enveloped. I find it mesmerising (and cold). #Hobart #Tasmania

It’s a Jerry kind of a morning. #Nipaluna #Hobart #Derwent_Jerry

In today’s mail. Not only is Madeleine Ogilvie quick off the mark, but she’s also rich with Liberal “commitments”.

"on the reverse of this letter are the commitments to Clark Electorate that are in this year's budget." #taspol

My daughter is starting up a pet/person/insect/you name it/ portrait service to fill up her time as she finishes her uni degree. I love this one of my son & Pepper the cat. If you want a personalised pic, her contacts are here: www.instagram.com/nipaluna.pet...

Ha ha. My husband (who works in Perth WA, bought a new indoor plant for his tiny flat today. Luckily I’m going home ( to Hobart) tomorrow 🤣

Looks like the early hours of Monday morning may be great for an aurora, Taswegians.

The full shebang.

The Salmon Gum (Eucalyptus salmonophloia) must be one of the most beautiful trees. Wheat Belt, Western Australia.

Look at this. There is some (unknown to me) WA insect that makes a cocoon identical (at 3/4 scale) to a tampon. I had to even look closely to check that they weren’t tampons!!
