Yes, because it's originally "Marandang" (sorry got a bit of typo in my previous answer). I don't know why it was standardized into "Rendang" in Indonesian, but oh well, a good food is a good food I guess, lol.

Quite long, but I suppose it's okay. The Indonesian Rendang is usually cooked for 8-12 hours, but you can go longer up to 24 hours. Well, the word "Rendang" is actually rooted from a word of Minangkabau Tribe "merandang" which actually means "slowly". So you basically take time as long as needed.
