New celebrity confusions thread: TIL Jon Batiste ≠ Dave Bautista
"Oh. Well, what does your husband do?"
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Food waste is bad, I agree. But last week we were told that shelf-stable processed food is also bad. And giving workers free time to shop for and prepare fresh foods is bad because productivity. It’s a real (processed) pickle!

AFAIK I do not have dementia but I do have a large Tony's Chocolonely bar that I stashed in the home office and have been eating one chunk at a time all day.
my father has dementia and sometimes his actions can be alarming so when he kept going out to the garage i finally followed him only to discover he’d hidden the last of the banana cream pie in the spare fridge and keeps going for back for more bites

If not for the numbers I definitely could've gotten a few more years out of this, but two decades really isn't bad.

I don't know what happened on the internet last night and luckily for me, today is way too chock-full for me to find out! We have: swim practice (currently in progress), piano competition, away swim *meet*, Friendsgiving! 🎉

I'm quitting while I'm ahead with that Norway costume.

Giving myself a knuckle papercut before 8am does not bode well. :-(

the funniest part of this is that no one was even saying Heinz is a good company that should be supported.

just that restaurant ketchup is a mess. lol

like I don't care how much bad accounting Heinz did it doesn't change the facts on the ground about ketchup????? THAT'S A DIFFERENT CONVO
Sometimes I actually agree when people say Bluesky is the most insufferable social network.

It's a great cosmic joke that neurodivergence both runs in families and gets diagnosed based on parent reports. I was diagnosed at 30 because a man who has eaten potatoes every day for 57 years and a woman who collects loose buttons decided I was a perfectly normal child.

The lingering mental impact of moving repeatedly: moments of panic when I hit "place order" before triple-checking that it's got the correct shipping address. Whew.

Sometimes the sites want to default back to prior locations (despite my best attempts!!) and it's made me paranoid.

I wonder about the impact of readers like me leaving Goodreads to switch to @thestorygraph.com

My account still exists there but I stopped updating it, and for me the transition was a fits-and-starts process rather than a clean break with a date I can pinpoint.

LRS was especially timely because the huge moon this week reminded me of the song and An American Tail for the who-knows-how-many-th time in my life. That movie really lodged in my psyche!

To this day, as a 41 year old woman, "Somewhere Out There" will reduce me to tears. He's just a little kid alone in the world and desperate to find his family and they miss him!
It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life

If you post a screenshot of a ChatGPT or Google AI claim to prove a point, you should automatically lose whatever argument you're having. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

It is meaningless.

I fixed the pockets that had been detaching from two different hoodies! My stitches are decidedly imperfect but they got the job done. 🎉🏆

There are definitely problems with sending folders of dead-tree papers home but I'm thisclose to thinking we should go back to that. We may have reached the point where digital is not even eco-friendlier (I say, digitally...)
Have you seen the school message? It's on Weduc. Did you reply about the homework? Dude it's on Arbor. What about the sports trip? It's literally on ParentPay. We need to pay for PE kit? It's probably on SquidCard. Pay for the breakfast club on EduLink. Attendance? ReachMoreParents has that for you.

Apropos of nothing: It is vitally important to always have a person in your life that will not hesitate to, honestly and kindly, tell you when you are completely full of shit.

The more I learn about propagating plants, the more Ship of Theseus-type questions I have about what a plant even IS.

The fact that people are out here acting like forgiveness and grace for change means that we throw people into a trash compactor or we let them into the US Senate and there is no in between is PRETTY WILD. There's a pretty big space in there to let people grow without giving them concentrated power.
