so apparently "🤣🤣🤣" is the official right-wing emoji now? Good thing that I - as any Polish kid born in the 1990s who has been terminally online at some point - would never use it unironically anyway

Nearly a dozen Nobel Prize winners have retracted papers -- going back to Max Planck.
Retractions by Nobel Prize winners
In 2017, our co-founders wrote an intentionally ridiculous column in Slate: “Want to Win a Nobel Prize? Retract a Paper.” But Nobel Prize winners have indeed retracted papers — so…

Great piece by Paul Offit

"When Mr. Kennedy says he wants vaccines to be better studied, what he really seems to be saying is he wants studies that confirm his fixed, immutable, science-resistant beliefs. That’s not skepticism."🧪⚕️

I definitely feel like every country is desperately scrambling to dump resources on figuring out how to make GenAI be “something” because they’re terrified that someone else will have the breakthrough first and they’ll be left behind, and it’s become a sunk cost swirl around the drain.
I cannot express how bad this story is for generative AI. OpenAI is burning hundreds of millions of dollars to try and make GPT-5 a meaningful upgrade, and it isn't working. Where does all of this go? How does this result in anything?
