Thoughts/opinions are my own
I strongly believe games spaces should have space for BOTH.

It gives us maximum options for different types of games and ensures games are for everyone.

I feel the one issue we are seeing in games now is the "BRRRRRR PROFITS LINE MUST GO UP" effect.

Which is bad for all games (&games workers)

Meanwhile, there advantages to bigger AAA games, like building on legacy tech, being able to hire specific expert roles, getting bigger games out on tighter timeline.

Neither is better than the other: they're just different, and that's ok.

Neither is bad: it's just different ways of producing a game and an end product.

Indie games CAN be more experimental because they're smaller teams with tight budgets.

That's going to yield a different product/scope/timeline than something with a larger team.

I think what we do need to have a good, hard look at is HOW we make games (across any budget and team size) and what advantages are we leveraging to build those experiences.

Indie games spaces are going to hold a lot more of those experimental play spaces where as AAA might have less risk.

I think this disregards folks who want bigger "blockbuster" games experiences (and want to build those kinds of games).

Building games is hard at any level. I think there are advantages (and space) for both indie and AAA (and everything in between).

♡ you make the world a better place too, yo.

Anyway.

To the DA teams: you made a franchise that impacted people & brought them together. Made a world folks felt a part of. Characters who were friends, frienemies, partners, lovers... who left an indelible mark on our hearts. From our Warden, to Hawke, to the Inquisitor, to Rook.

Thank you.

DA:V was a solid game. It's accessible. The controls are solid. The cast of characters are great. The story is fun. This game gives me ME2 vibes in terms of "choices matter" gameplay.

The team did a good job putting together a complete, fun, experience.

And yet...
