I've personally had some trouble getting the translation running on my ODE modded Saturn, but I think that's the ODE, not the Saturn. Drive in that one died long ago.

PS1 is a bit better, but lacks the Saturn's (pretty cool) Japanese voice acting.
Sounds strange, but both PS1 and Saturn are a lot faster to play too. SNES has a rather slow compression scheme it uses.

US SNES version accidentally makes leveling harder than the Japanese version intended, but is otherwise a fine way to play.

Probably the translated Saturn version. Has some extra content that doesn't change the original experience and some extra map info that makes the game easier to play and understand.
PS1 and the US SNES versions are fine with caveats.
