My parents spent their honeymoon near Vejle, Denmark. They used to camp in a tent there, but decided to get a cabin for the honeymoon.

To me, it's a bit odd to go camping on a honeymoon, but they had friends there and wanted to celebrate with them, too.

Today I am examining wage books from the Danish navy from 1745 to 1760. I was happy to see that the 1760 book has a name index.

If you can read it, you might wonder why it is sorted by first names. That was common practice due to the use of patronymic surnames.

Another Dane with an interest in #history has bought this notebook at a market. The cover says "Notes" so we assume it's of English origin. The pages are like blackboards: The user writes with chalk, and the text can be deleted. My fellow Dane requests more info about such notebooks.

I like to use topographical maps such as those from Videnskabernes Selskab (Denmark).

For instance, this one of Southern Funen shows its proximity to Schleswig and helps us understand trade and migration routes.

I love using maps. I have a historical atlas (in Danish), which tells history via maps, such as this one showing the European colonization of North America until 1775.
(I can only share a snippet as fair use because the book is still protected by copyright.)

What a treasure I handled today when I was back at the Danish National Archives for the first time this year!

This book contains financial accounts for the poor funds distributed in three Danish parishes at the island Lolland in 1768-1827.
