I’ve seen questions about why I chose to make Alfred a B12 instead of a Great Bear. Much of it came down to convenience. The B12 didn’t require as much modeling and was easier to make. Great Bear would have been better since the real life engine was faulty like Henry - would have been nice irony.
Some facts about Alfred you might not know:
- My mother came up with the idea of Alfred as a foil to Gordon.
- Alfred was originally going to be a GWR Great Bear class.
- Henry lives in the original script for part 3 and destroys Alfred.
- Alfred's sidekick (the ROD engine) was named Digby.
- My mother came up with the idea of Alfred as a foil to Gordon.
