The tools and culture that would limit its usage and errors haven't really evolved yet. So a lot of research is probably riddled with AI hallucinations that haven't been caught yet.

Finding it and extracting it could wind up being the next gen's version of asbestos in old buildings.

More so than they do today, I mean.

The other material analogy I've been thinking about more is asbestos. I wish I could remember where I read this, it's not an original thought, but we may have a big job ahead of us: pulling the AI slop out of published research and other useful archives.
