One dog in the park has an official name. It is the Golden Retriever named Smiley, in honour of a blind therapy dog who worked with the St. John’s Ambulance therapy group in Toronto. All the statues show signs of wear on their heads and noses from people petting them.

The fountain was designed by Claude Cormier. All the dogs at the fountain are looking up at a large bone perched on the fountain. The cat is named Pam McCat in honour of former city councilor Pam McConnell. There is a second cat statue on an electrical box looking west.
