An inauspicious start to the season for the Fins (pending some miraculous comeback). Ah well, I shouldn’t be surprised.

3:49 pm 9/6. It’s going to get windy in the Woo soon. Lightning too! Find some shelter if you are currently outdoors! #worcester

Been doing some making. This postage stamp quilt is back on my design wall now. With the world being a lot (and not getting better any time soon), it helps to make beautiful things. #quiltsky

Not everyday you see these highs in the forecast in New England (this is for Worcester). The combination of heat and humidity in the forecast also has an Excessive Heat Warning raised starting tomorrow and extending through Tuesday. Please take care!

Before starting on the rainbow quilt I shared a couple of days ago, I decided to do some big stitch hand quilting on a different languishing project. I had done machine quilting in the ditch of the strips awhile ago.

Quilt top basting time. I’ve tried basting a few different ways, and table basting is by far my favorite method. This is the Fly Away quilt pattern by Suzy Quilts made with scraps from my stash. I finished the quilt top in 2021, so it’s definitely time to get this finished.

Windchill on May 21? No thank you. And tomorrow we add wind-driven rain. Good times!

Of course I had to visit the “Weather Capital of the World”! I had no idea where Phil spent his time outside of Groundhog Day. He lives (with some friends) at the library!

All the Row 1 hexies are basted (311). I trucked through the last 100 or so in the past few days, while feeling enraged about the state of things. It’s just under 9% of the total for the entire quilt (3540). Time to start sewing the Row 1 units! #AlchemyQuilt #TulaPink #EPP #EnglishPaperPiecing

Basting update for #alchemyquilt! Another 81 basted in the last week. Running total 192 of 311 for row 1. And my crafting friend, Padme, is keeping me company. #EPP #EnglishPaperPiecing #quiltsky #TulaPink

Snowfall reports (via @box.weather.im) with the Worcester reports highlighted. If it helps, we should be warming to around 60 on Monday.

A bit more snow than I expected to wake up to in Worcester. Incredible parachutes falling at the moment. Accumulation even on paved surfaces. Good burst passing through.

Another 87 hexies basted! That’s 111/311 for the first row of the Alchemy Quilt. #englishpaperpiecing #epp #tulapink #alchemyquilt

That’s 16 hexies basted today (in about 30 min). Total basted so far is 24 out of 311 for the first row. #epp #tulapink #alchemyquilt

Embarking on an epic project: the Alchemy Quilt by Tula Pink (English paper pieced). It’s 3540 hexagons. Yesterday, I sorted fabric and cut squares for the first two rows. Today I am prepping for thread basting (a little glue on the back of each paper piece).

Wishing I was somehow there again... (a little liberty with the lyrics). I loved everything about our trip to the UK (except coming back to this dumpster fire).
March 20, 2025 at 9:06 PM
Spent last week in the UK. My first visit, but definitely not my last! We saw a lot of amazing historical things, like the Tower of London. Another highlight was perusing the aisles of several Tescos for snacks and candies. Some of them made their way home (including some for the cats)!

I’m making a V-neck boxy, and I’ve worked out how to do it with a five-color fade yarn set I had been hanging onto for the perfect project. Now seemed like a good time to make it happen! Also designing a new weaving project using some deep stash.

Attempting to craft in spite of the horrors. Starting to plan a weaving project with some deep stash. I love a rainbow! 🧶

In the past 3 weeks, I’ve only crafted one time. If you know me, you know that this is very unusual. It felt impossible in my grief. Today I picked up my hook, and started a hat for a friend. It’s a small step, but I know I will need this outlet to get through what are going to be some dark times. 🧶

If you made it this far, here’s a few pictures of my Chewie. He was my shadow, and his absence has left a big hole in our home. I wish I could say I hope 2025 will get better, but it’s not looking very likely.

Here’s a favorite FO! I love granny squares!

It's a snowy morning! Probably a good 4-5 inches out there in my part of Worcester.
