And donating money is better. Food banks get serious discounts and can use buying in bulk to their advantage.

Junk you clean out of your pantry or a mix of things you buy at the grocery store, tho well-intentioned, are a giant PIA because they need to be sorted and out of date stuff thrown away.

We noticed that when we used our electric dryer, electricity usage spiked like 10X (or more!) of the everyday usage. We now use outdoor clothesline most of the year.

PGE gives a California Climate Credit twice a year and that always got us ahead when we did not have an EV. I think it will appear on the next bill.
